As I have progressed through my graduate studies in the NLGL Program at NC State,  I have focused on discovering how to build a foundation of pedagogical and classroom management strategies that acknowledges, respects, and educates all students in a classroom.   My compelling question is "How can I support diverse learners in my high school English class?"

More than a tool box of disparate strategies, I have developed a strong professional philosophy that when we honor diversity in “race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, socio-economic status, age, ability, religious or political beliefs or other different ideologies" (University of Rhode Island, 2020),  not only do we elevate the quality of academic outcomes, but we are ultimately shaping our students to be successful global citizens.

In the section of my Creative Synthesis Design Showcase titled "My Findings," you will see how I have investigated this question through each of my classes.   The “What’s Next” page will illustrate how I intend to implement my new knowledge in my future classroom.  Under “Aligning to Standards,” you will see connections to North Carolina Standard Course of Study, as well as to standards laid out by the International Society for Technology in Education.
